Rheono vs Astra: testing after every release, or pentest plans per target
Verdict
Rheono wins when you want one web app and its API tested again after every release you approve, with retests that do not run out, on a flat monthly price per surface. Growth is €499 a month for continuous coverage, and Starter is €99 for one full pentest a month.
What Astra is
Astra Security sells pentests together with a DAST scanner, an API security platform and cloud scanning. It describes its pentests as hacker-style, run by autonomous AI and human experts, and pitches them at SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA requirements.
Astra's pricing is published in US dollars per target. Pentest Auto, the autonomous pentest, costs $2,999 a year or $199 a month, with the first report on the same day and one human re-scan to check fixes. Pentest Expert, at $5,999 a year, adds a manual pentest by Astra's experts, two re-scans, and reports Astra describes as CREST, PCI ASV and CERT-In compliant. Enterprise starts at $9,999 a year.
A web or SaaS app counts as one target, including the APIs it consumes. Every plan also includes a public trust center page for showing buyers your security posture.
What Astra does better
A human pentest in the same product. Pentest Expert adds a manual pentest by Astra's experts to the autonomous one. Rheono's pentests are run by agents, with a named signatory who reviews the findings and signs the report.
Reports for specific schemes. Astra's Expert plan includes reports it describes as CREST, PCI ASV and CERT-In compliant. Rheono's report carries NIS2 / ISO 27001-ready evidence mapping; if a contract requires BSI or CREST accreditation, tell Rheono at scoping.
More target types. Astra's Expert plan supports web, mobile, cloud, network and AI targets, and Astra sells cloud and API scanning plans as well. Rheono covers external web apps and APIs.
Where Rheono differs
Pentests follow your releases, and retests do not run out. On Growth and above, Rheono runs an intensive pentest after each release you approve and a quieter watch between them, at the same monthly price, with unlimited retests on the surface. Starter includes a retest of the findings you fixed. Astra's plan table lists a fixed number of re-scans per plan (one, two or four), usable within 30 or 90 days.
Prices in euros, from a company in the EU. Rheono bills in euros, is run from Germany, stores customer data in the EU and signs a DPA under Art. 28 GDPR. Its report carries NIS2 / ISO 27001-ready evidence mapping.
Scope in writing. You verify the domain with a DNS TXT record or a well-known file and sign an authorization with rules of engagement, valid for 90 days. The agents only talk to the hosts it names.
Three checks behind each finding. The agent proves the exploit, a separate validator tries to break the proof without seeing the agent's work, and a scripted replay reruns it where the bug class allows. See the verification bar and the sample report.
